On Monday, Oct. 17, 21 private rail cars coming from New Orleans made a stop in at the Galveston Railroad Museum. The cars were on their way to the in Kansas City, Missouri for the American Association of Private Railroad Car Owners.
Patrick Henry, owner of a luxury rail travel company and a private rail car, was on hand. He said, “It’s a lost art.” That’s why we get together and go as a group.” This is an extraordinary group of train cars ranging from 60 to 100 years old. Modern conveniences have been added to some such as TVs and stereos but the vintage ambiance is preserved with chandeliers, mahogany wood doors, and plush furnishings.
The rail car can be chartered for vacations, honeymoons and business events for around $8,000 a day.
