Village Creek State Park is located about 16 miles north of Beaumont in Lumberton. Several trails dot the varied landscape of four ecological communities. Pick up a self-guided booklet at headquarters around the State Parks Store for Village Creek State Park.
First stop starts in Beaumont where you might hear a little different dialect. If you hear words like: “batroom, hose pipe, nuttin, sto, tink and toulooloo,” you know you are amongst some Cajuns. (Translation: “bathroom, garden hose, nothing, store, think and fiddler crab.”)
